In fact, it’s important for your child’s development that they have an interesting place to spend their time. This doesn’t have to mean expensive toys and electronic gadgets. Cartons and packaging from the kitchen come in all sorts of interesting shapes. They are perfect for setting up a pretend shop or making a robot or using as building blocks. You may have a toy library close by that you can use, or your local health clinic, preschool or childcare centre may have ideas.
If you have a back yard, find a spot to make mud pies. Children never seem to tire of squelching in the mud. Pitch a tent for an adventurous explorer or ask Grandpa to build a swing.
