Thanksgiving Side Dishes

Thanksgiving side dishes are often the favorite part of the meal (other than dessert that is!).
Traditionally the side dishes would be made up of the newly harvested crops of potatoes, sweet potatoes, pumpkins and squash, parsnips and turnips and whatever vegetables were to hand.
While you may not want a traditional thanksgiving dinner, you can still utilize the fantastic range of seasonal vegetables to make up your menu.
The following recipes and ideas would work well in either style menu.
Potatoes Think of golden, crispy roasted potatoes.
I love mine crunchy on the outside and deliciously soft on the inside.
Sweet PotatoesWhat about sweet potatoes roasted and then beaten into a fluffy golden cloud and baked with spices and pecans?
Pumpkin and SquashIt’s difficult to settle on just one pumpkin or squash recipe, so I’ve gone for a decadently sweet roasted squash this time.
Parsnips
I love earthy, sweet parsnips served with fragrant herb butter.
Brussels SproutsI start craving Brussels sprouts as soon as the weather starts to cool down.
These Brussels sprouts are so easy: Gently cooked then dressed with butter and a scattering of roasted hazelnuts.
