Wild Baby Rabbit

I wanted to share a rabbit photo that isn't actually a pet of mine. As you can see from the photo, I'm holding a very tiny baby rabbit.

I was working on a farm at the time and had been asked to demolish an old, disused cottage. There were three of us working on it and we had a great time smashing down walls and dodging the collapsing roof. When we were ripping up the old floor we uncovered a wild rabbit's home.

We took the photo you can see then decided to leave the site alone so the rabbit family could relocate. We put the boards back and found a job elsewhere on the property for the rest of the day.

The farmer was gobsmacked! He wanted to get those rabbits right or wrong, but we managed to convince him that it's wrong to kill an animal in it's own home and not doing any harm.

I'm sure he felt hiring some city slickers for the summer had been a huge mistake!

Anyway, when we came back to work on the cottage the next morning, there was no sign of the rabbits and no sign that a predator had visited the site, but they were gone. I'd like to think they had the chance to relocate safely and set up a new home elsewhere.

I know wild rabbit photos probably doesn't really fit your competition, but I just thought I'd share this anyway.
