Where to Find Leads For Part Time Jobs For Teens

part time jobs for teens, jobs for teens Certainly your teen can search through the classified ads in the local newspaper.

But the scope for part time jobs for teens is pretty limited there.

Help your teen to broaden their search by checking out the following ideas:-

  • Try the notice boards at your local supermarket
  • Churches and local community groups sometimes have odd-job referral programs.
  • Encourage your teen to tell their friends and friend’s parents that they are looking for work – networking is often the most effective way to find out about work opportunities.
  • Never discount volunteer work as a waste of time. Not only will your teen be helping others, they will also pick up valuable skills to add to their resume. It may lead to paid work or an interest in a future career.
  • Help your teen leave their resume with Golf courses, summer camps, pools, hotels, amusement parks, and offices. Dropping in to businesses to leave a resume not only shows your teen is keen; they may be in the right place at the right time for a new opportunity.

Help Your Teen Make Their Own Work Opportunity

Your teen could set up their own part time business with:-

  • babysitting,
  • dog walking
  • or lawn/garden maintenance.

Or they could try these ideas…

Test Games

Did you know your teen (or you!) can get paid to play video games? Neither did I!

You join up and are given the opportunity to test out new games. Anything from Action-Adventure, Fighting, Simulation, Racing, Sports.

Every kind of game you can think of needs to be tested! It sounds ideal for most teens I know, especially the boys.

Of course, everyone who knows about it wants to become a game tester. It’s competitive, especially as you can make from $10-$90/hour depending on experience, so your teen will need some extra assistance.

Only4Gamers will give all the support and tips for a one off fee. If your teen hasn’t been able to win any game testing jobs in the first 8 weeks, there’s a money back guarantee.

Tutoring

If your teen does well at school, or at least in a few key subjects, they could consider tutoring other students.

Not only can they make some handy cash, but they’ll be helping others in their community too.

Here are some things to consider:

  • What are your teen's strengths. Is it a foreign language, grammar, science or math?
  • Will they tutor in the school library, in your home, at student’s homes?
  • Will they tutor kids of their own age or younger?
  • Where can they advertise (a flyer on school notice boards and in school newsletters is a great start)?
  • Will they tutor for a set period of time? Or on an ongoing basis?
  • Is there a lot of competition for students? Tutoring is a one of the classic part time jobs for teens, so don't be surprised if your teen isn't the only one who thought of it!

Once they have these and any others you could think of out of the way it’s time to start!

Just try one student first and after the first 3 or 4 weeks have a talk about how it's going. Is it worth it? What's the feedback from the student and their parents like?

Expect your teen to be a bit shaky to start - but providing their technique and results are improving over the 4 weeks, then it's worth continuing.

Make and Sell Your Own Jewelry

The fashion for glass bead jewelry just seems to get stronger and stronger.

It’s relatively cheap to set up and make a small range of jewelry to sell.

You could help your teen with a market stall (they may be too young to do it legally themselves) or sell to family and friends.

Not only can a small business like this make exciting part time jobs for teens, it's creative and fun too.

Here’s a fantastic book called Jewelry Selling Secrets from Kameron Kay that sets everything out that you’ll ever need to know about making jewelry and selling it.

The author says:

"If it doesn't help you and your kids start making money in your spare time, if it doesn't guide you step by step on how to get started with little or no money, if it doesn't show you catchy ways to market and attract customers, if it doesn't show you how making money is easier than you ever dreamed possible, then I don't want your money... Caring for Parents

You put a lot of work into caring for your kids, but who's looking after you? It's time to put yourself first for a change. It needn't break the bank, you don't even have to leave the house if you don't want to! Just take some time to pamper yourself.

Good advice for parents is to remember to take time out for pampering sessions.

Parenting Quote

Adolescents are not monsters. They are just people trying to learn how to make it among the adults in the world, who are probably not so sure themselves.

~Virginia Satir, The New Peoplemaking, 1988
