Are You Ready To Be A Good Parent?

Just what is a good parent?

There’s no point asking your kids if they think you are a good parent or not.

They aren’t qualified!

Until they are a parent themselves they just can’t know everything you do for them.

The best thing you can do is make sure you have plans and strategies in place (tools) to care for your kids, your partner and yourself.

Set Up Your Parenting Toolkit

parenting advice, advice for parents Who's looking after you?

That’s you, the Parent, not the kids.

This point is usually raised at the end of every discussion on parenting advice. Well, it’s time it got raised a lot earlier.

Don’t believe you can have some time to yourself? Losing your friend and self identity? Need some ideas on what to do?

The following links will give you ideas on the tools you need for your parenting toolkit. These are the things you need to keep yourself well supported and happy so you can be more than a good parent...you can be a good partner, a good friend, and a contented person too!

So What Makes a Good Parent?

good parent, parenting advice, parenting style Everyone has a different take on what a good parent is.

But when it comes down to it most people would say that having a great relationship with their child that can continue into adulthood is really important.

Look At Your Home Safety

Children just don’t have the sense to know what can hurt them until they are 4 or 5 and even then they can’t be trusted to really understand. Take the time to have a really good look at your home to spot any hazards and remove them or secure them.

It is your responsibility to make your house and yard as safe as possible to keep your kids safe from accidents.

Be Consistent with Child Discipline

The idea behind child discipline it not just to make the child stop something that is driving you crazy,

but to teach your child that they need to be aware of other people around them,

to be responsible for their own behavior and to learn to control themselves.

Is Your Child Ready For Toilet Training?

Are you ready, too? There are a couple of important things to consider before you devote any time to this challenging task.

Some preparation beforehand and waiting until the right time can save both you and your child unnecessary stress.

Are You Getting Enough Sleep?

One of the first things you notice about being a parent is that you never seem to get enough sleep.

It seems that almost every child has sleep problems!

How much can you expect your child to sleep? How do you get your child to settle to sleep?

Being a good parent means being able to juggle the care you need for yourself, with the care you need to provide for your children and partner.

So go ahead, set up your Good Parent Toolkit and get to work.

It's fun...No, really! It is!

Caring for Parents

You put a lot of work into caring for your kids, but who's looking after you? It's time to put yourself first for a change. It needn't break the bank, you don't even have to leave the house if you don't want to! Just take some time to pamper yourself.

Good advice for parents is to remember to take time out for pamering sessions.
