This is Christopher. He was my favorite rabbit. Really soft and a beautiful caramel and white color.

I love the way his ears are standing up so straight in this picture. It shows how bright and playful he was.

I'm sorry to say that Christopher died not long after this photo was taken. We were living on a farm at the time and had his hutch on the lawn in our yard.

We had the yard fenced and thought he would be OK, but some wild rabbits must have come to visit him because he caught the Calicivirus from them and died.

I just wanted to let people know that you have to be very careful about keeping your pet rabbits where wild rabbits are because the virus kills all rabbits, not just wild ones.

Anyway, I loved Christopher, and it's sad that he died. I have a Guinea Pig called Tilly now, and she's doing really well.

Thank you for your photo and story, Grace. It's very sad when a pet dies.

You have mentioned a very important point about keeping rabbits. The Calicivirus occurs naturally in the wild in some countries. In Australia it was introduced as a way of controlling the enormous numbers of wild rabbits. Your Vet will know if it's a problem in your area and how best to manage it.
